What is LOVE

What is your take on love?
I think I can safely say that for most of us Love is about how we feel towards another being, whether another person, your pets, nature, etc.  And it is dictated by what the other being does or does not do.  This concept of love varies between the individuals in the equation; between a parent and child; between life partners; between siblings; between friends; love between owners and pets; and so on it goes through every relationship.

This was my truth and my relationships were rooted in how and what I or my fellow beings did or did not do, and depending on how close a person is, we either forgive and carry on or end the relationship.  We somehow always look for love outside ourselves and when we don’t get it or perceive that our love is not being reciprocated we are then hurt and upset.  And this is carried through the generations by how we are taught or not taught by those who influence us and we build our values and belief systems as we grow up.

Then life happens, we get a jolt when something traumatic or unpleasant happens and we rethink everything that we came to believe and take for granted.  When that happens, we look deeper into what life means for us and that is when we start the journey to find out what Love is and once we find it, we realise how wrong we were.  And once you touch LOVE with all your senses, nothing can ever take it away from you again – because you realise that LOVE is in you and that your relationships help bring out the love that is already within you.  This is the truth about LOVE – it is within you and no one can take it away from you.

LOVE is all there is, it is within us and all around us.  All of creation is LOVE and we are all part of the LOVE that is the Divine, All That Is, of God.  When we can know this in its totality, we shift our being towards LOVE and from there all our relationships take on a different meaning and end up being more fulfilling.  We learn to be more tolerant of the other being in the relationship and can appreciate and accept the differences in the other being.

In Love and Light

  1. Beautiful post! Years ago, a friend asked me, what is Love and I gave several explanations on what I thought Love is and this friend smiled and told me, 'Love is God and love is what everything is made of'.

  2. How true, God and Love are the same thing, and Love is in everything, we can never take it away. At the end Love is all there is.
